Depending on how well NUT can work with your particular UPS, you might get a daemon running that will monitor & safely shut down your Linux box.

If no Linux drivers or application exists for that UPS, your best option will likely be NUT - as 1000 has identified. By default it does NOT enable direct access to hardware or system resources, though - this would be needed in order to work with your UPS. It is intended as a "bridge" that can enable some games & programs to function with varying levels of success. WINE was not intended to make all Windows programs run under Linux.
